Back to Basics

I love this book because it's "Back to Basics". It has many recipes with ingredients already found in your pantry...way to go Gooseberry!!!

A Good Investment

This book is a great investment for those wanting to save money yet still have meals that the family will love. I was highly impressed with the content in the book. The other day I pulled out my copy of "Dinners On A Dime" and made the Cake Mix Brownies (pg. 208)...they are delicious!!! My only interjection is that it says to use a 9x13" baking pan...however, since it did not make a large amount of batter I felt using this large of a pan would make the brownies too thin. So instead, I used a smaller round baking dish (6 inch). They cooked up nice and high and were great!!! The cooking time was the same so it worked out well.I loved that it only used 4 ingredients and all of them were pantry staples. Great book all the way around.

I just love the easy recipes I find in this cook book. Most of the recipes use ingredients I keep in the pantry year round so no running back to the store for a missing ingredient.

Dinners on a Dime

We often shop for cookbooks as a way to find new and exciting ways to prepare our foods but a book like "Dinners on a Dime" has quite the opposite appeal. As I read through the pages, I found myself exclaiming "Oh I remember this recipe!". I discovered the comforting old fashioned foods that I remembered enjoying at pot lucks and family gatherings through the years. There were no difficult-to-find ingredients and no expensive additions, just good, honest food. Like having the wisdom of many mothers at my fingertips, this new cookbook from Gooseberry Patch is a wonderful resource for those of us who have a passion for not only nourishing, but nurturing their families from the warmth of their kitchens.
